On the occasion of the first edition of the Colle di Val d’Elsa Sports Festival, the Sensi Arte Gallery presents ‘Locker Room Psychedelia‘, a solo exhibition by artist Matteo Cocci dedicated to the world of recreational – sports activities.
The exhibition opens an ironic and mocking glimpse into the great theme of sport: with that all-Tuscan poetic irreverence and his inimitable and personal style, Cocci reminds us that “fun is a serious thing” (cit. Italo Calvino). The meaning of his research and work is to create engagement and participation: athletes in disarray or trained athletes, where competitive activity is narrated for its true essence.
With twelve unpublished works, Cocci showcases “healthy competition” and reminds us that without fun we can’t grow together, and that the joy and frenzy of involvement belongs to everyone: those who practice and those who cheer in the stands, those who focus on performance and those who applaud and shout.
In collaboration with the Colle Val d’Elsa’s Department of Sport and Department of Tourism, the Sensi Arte Gallery is thus renewing its interest in exhibition projects capable of bringing contemporary art into dialogue with local themes, languages, and realities.
